Dr. Angela Bender
Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Angela P. Bender became Superintendent of the Ridgefield Park School District in 2019. She began her career in education more than 35 years ago as a Business Education teacher with the Fair Lawn Public School District. She served her last several years there as the District Technology Specialist, where she was responsible for in-class technology-rich instructional support and professional development for all K-12 teachers, staff, and administrators. Dr. Bender joined Ridgefield Park in 2005 as the Supervisor of the Fine, Performing, and Practical Arts. In 2006, she began her tenure as the Grant School Principal. Dr. Bender has held instructional and administrative positions on the elementary, middle, high school, and district level.
Dr. Bender also finds it extremely rewarding to work with adult learners. She is an Adjunct Professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey in the Master of Science in Educational Technology program and serves as a Supervisor for the Teacher Education program. She has written K-12 curricula and designed graduate courses of study for adult learners. Dr. Bender is also an instructor for the NJ EXCEL Post-Masters program and serves in various mentor positions throughout NJPSA/FEA since 2005.
She is a former NJPSA Board Member, a current FEA Board Member, and serves on The Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women (COSW). Dr. Bender also serves on the Ramapo College of New Jersey Board for the Humanities Society Association.
Through her passion for education and being a life-long learner herself, Dr. Bender completed her undergraduate work at Montclair State, graduate work at Ramapo College, post-masters at NJ EXCEL, two post-masters, and her Doctorate at Capella University.
